Also known as digital music aggregators, song aggregators, digital aggregators, music aggregators, digital distribution aggregator or just aggregator.

What is a digital music distributor or aggregator?

An Aggregator is basically a Music Distribution company that will take your songs and make them available for people to play them on streaming and download sites around the world. Sites like Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, YouTube, Google Play, Pandora, Tidal, Amazon, Deezer and hundreds of other music websites.  They will collect any royalties or payments due to you by those sites for people playing or downloading (purchasing) your songs and pay them to you.

How much do they charge you for their Digital Music Distribution service?

Unlike most types of businesses where the costs are easy to compare, aggregators are not so easy to compare. They are very creative in their pricing structures and how they differentiate themselves from their competitors. Some charge a one time fee per submission only, some a fee and a percentage of your sales, some a yearly fee and no submission fee, some a yearly fee, no submission fee and no percentage, some charge a percentage only, some charge a fee per store and lots of other pricing structures. And if that is not confusing enough, the fees and percentages are all different. Not knowing how many streams or downloads you will get makes it very difficult to calculate what the total fees would be under each price structure and to be able to compare them. We list the fees for each aggregator below. Check the website of any of the ones you are interested in, to see if there have been any changes in price or service.

How do you decide on which music aggregator?

As far as we can tell, we don't think you would be too wrong in picking any of them. You can always change later on if you don't like the one you chose, although a change may incur additional fees for new bar codes, non refundable fees etc. Look closely at the details of each. Will they get you on the major streaming sites such as those listed above? Some offer other services which might interest you such as physical distribution of your CD or vinyl record album, promotional services, physical manufacturing of your CD, sync licensing, a storefront for people to find and preview your songs and other various  services. Although most of those services you can obtain elsewhere on your own.

This list is continually being added to and updated. We are giving point form details on each for their basic plan for a single or album to get your music out there. Some of them have extremely complicated or confusing multiple price offerings. Here we are trying to compare the key factors, submission price, annual fee, percentage of royalties they take to release a single or album and number of stores they are in, to give some kind of an even field to compare the various distributors. The figures are taken directly from each aggregator's own website. Here they are in alphabetical order.
